ICI

The Institution of Engineers (India) (IEI) is the national organization for engineers in India. IEI has over 0.5 million members from 15 engineering disciplines in 99 centers or chapters in India and overseas; it is the largest multi-disciplinary engineering professional society in the English-speaking world. It was formed on September 13, 1920 and it is currently Headquarters at Gokhale Road, Kolkata, India.

  • Improving standard of Engineering Education and counselling the students in the emerging new opportunities

  • Encouraging and motivating the outside Class room studies /Workshops/ projects/ Seminars

  • To plan, organize Technical Programs, Special Lectures, Workshops, Seminars Symposia, exhibitions for the benefit of students.

  • To provide common platform for students to exchange of ideas in technical topics of interest and to facilitate technical visits, project works, employment, contact with industries and academic institutions.

  • Encourage team spirit and self reliance among student members.

  • Provide an opportunity for professionals in pursuing professional development or connecting with like-minded Engineering professionals

The benefits of being a member of the students’ chapter are the following:

  • Various technical events like seminars, industrial visits, group discussions, technical quiz competitions, workshops and model/ poster competitions will be organized throughout the year with sponsor and banner of IEI.

  • An Annual Students’ Convention with a Seminar on a topical subject and Technical Session will be conducted to provide a platform for presentation of technical papers and building fellowship and opportunities for networking with peers and senior members to the Institution.

  • Opportunity to participate in technical events e.g. Seminars, Symposia, Conventions, Workshops etc. organized by various IEI centers at State, National and International levels at a concessional rate of 20%.

  • Scholarships for selected student members will be given by IEI.

  • R & D grant from IEI.

  • Student Members (SMIE) are entitled to enjoy following benefits regarding IEI journals

  1. Make free e-access by logging in through www.ieindia.org

  2. Can avail the journal hard copies at a concessional rat

  3. Student Members (SMIE) may access the IEI Library (Sir R N Mookerjee Engineering Information Service Centre) at the headquarters as well as State and Local Centres of IEI.

  4. Student Members are entitled to receive the monthly colour tabloid ‘IEI NEWS’ free of cost.

  5. Opportunity to participate in technical events e.g. Seminars, Symposia, Conventions, Workshops etc. organized by various IEI centres at State, National and International levels at concessional rate.

  6. Student Members may avail the opportunity of staying in any of the IEI guest houses.

  7. Student groups consisting of SMIEs only will be given preference in release of grants for their final year project/thesis work.

The Indian Concrete Institute (ICI) is a prominent professional organization in India, dedicated to advancing knowledge and practices in concrete technology and construction. Established in 1982 following a successful international seminar on modern concrete practices, ICI has grown substantially, boasting over 14,500 members across 47 regional centers nationwide.

With a focus on disseminating knowledge, promoting concrete technology, and addressing research needs, ICI organizes various programs, including seminars, workshops, conferences, and exhibitions at both national and international levels. These events provide a platform for industry stakeholders to exchange ideas and experiences, with participation from practicing engineers, manufacturers, academics, consultants, and researchers

The Indian Concrete Institute (ICI) Student Chapter dreams of a future where young civil engineering students are well-prepared with practical knowledge and skills for real-world applications in concrete construction.

Mission:

To create a community of students who are innovative and committed to sustainable construction practices, contributing to the improvement of the concrete industry.

Objectives:

  1. Education: Provide students hands-on learning opportunities and training in concrete technology and construction practices so they can succeed in their careers.
  2. Sustainability: Encourage the use of eco-friendly practices in concrete construction and explore new materials and techniques that are good for the environment and make structures stronger and longer-lasting.
  3. Collaboration: Promote sharing ideas and working together among students, teachers, industry professionals, and others involved in concrete, both in India and abroad.
  4. Professional Skills: Offers extra courses and activities to help students become more employable and ready for the concrete industry.
  5. Community Involvement: Explain the significance of concrete in construction and explore ways to use it that benefit the environment.
